Thinking inside the Box

The famous commercial slogan it is "Thinking outside the box", but Kevin Coyne calls in his article to "Thinking inside the box", the main idea in his article that thinking outside the box it is good, but in the case of the development of new products; the thinking inside the box means just think inside different boxes ,and thinking in the regeneration and development when the company has many determinants, and for example, the cost and size of the budget and the requirements of customers and other things, this article calls for the use of brainstorming sessions to develop new products and that by doing a set of questions ultimately lead to creative new ideas out, this sort of innovation helps in completing the required development of new products and lead to a reduction in costs incurred on development processes, because it calls for the development from inside.

Nokia Patents New Technology for a Self-Charging Cell Phone

Nokia has applied for a patent for a technology that would allow future cell phones to charge themselves up - without the need for a power socket.
This invention is based on the ability of the charger to convert kinetic energy into electrical energy, and thus, this charger will benefit from the human movement and converts this movement into electrical energy which can recharge cell phone self.
The new charge includes two separate frames rubbing against one another within the phone. The smaller case would contain a battery that would store the charge generated from the movement of the piezoelectric elements. This structure would possible increase the size of the device, not to mention the possibility of feeling constant movement of loose panels inside the appliance housing.

Intel and Nokia expand alliance to 3D interfaces

Nokia and Intel have announced a convention in which they merge their programming platforms that are widely spread: «Moblin» and «Maemo». Then, they unified their efforts in a single platform based on the operating system, «Linux». This programming works on many devices such as computers, notebook, smart phones, tablet PCs, multimedia phones, connected to net televisions, information systems and entertainment in cars. They will call the new system, which has an open source, MeeGo.

Nokia and Intel have become allies in a new clash of the operating systems with the joint creation of MeeGo. MeeGo is an operating system that blurs the line between a robust mobile phone OS and a lightweight netbook OS.

Nokia and Intel announced that they are developing a joint research center to create software for 3D and virtual reality experiences for use on mobile devices, the recent strategic alliance between the world's largest chipset producer Intel and the global leaders in mobile handset producer Nokia seems to build a new road of development for mobile computing. The alliance also extends to the realms of chipset architectures. It would be interesting to see the new developments that will take place as a result of this new alliance, for example , Nokia are teaming with Intel to bring 3D to mobile device.

Top 20 Global R&D Spenders, 2008

This survey shows that Toyota still keeps the first place in the list of companies' most spending on the research and development oprations since 2006; Toyota's company globally spends the about one million dollars per hour on the R&D , many companies believe that the increase in spending on research and development is a competitive strategy rather than normal operation for the make of development and growth in the market, and it is noted that the company Toyota Japanese still maintain first place in spending on research and development in 2008, but in the lower equals 5.7% for the year 2007, in comparison, and Toyota company still keeps the first place in this list since 2006 , this study showed a change in the spending of these companies on the operations of R & D differently, so I think that the biggest cause of business sentiment in spending on R & D for the year 2008 is a recession.
The relationship between Innovation and recession is a direct correlation with that Innovation increases with increasing recession, and because many of the costs of production decline during the recession era and therefore have the opportunity to apply Innovation on the ground, there are a lot of real products were produced during periods of recession and periods of financial crises, and the best that we should rely in these periods is to rely on internal sources of innovation, since most companies due to recession economy's based on feedback from customers to develop products and thus cost less if the companies have been relying on outside sources for innovation and development, due to the difficult economic situation the world is suffering the innovation becomes a solution to the problems experienced by most companies and not as many people expected that an increase in welfare only.

Toshiba's Innovative Two-Screen

Toshiba has presented on August several new products to coincide with its 25th anniversary among which Libretto W100, a laptop and tablet computer that connects digital on a single computer, folding, with two touch screens.
According to the company, this notebook is so small that “fits in a pocket,” and added that both screens 14 inches and weighing 819 grams. Libretto W100 has an Intel processor U5400, 2GB hard drive memory 62 GB solid, operating system Windows 7 screens of 1024 x 600 each, USB reader, memory card, WiFi. Bluetooth and optional 3G.
I think it is the time in which Toshiba Company launched a laptop computer that contains two screens. So Toshiba became the first mover in providing such a computer that contains this feature in the market. The New Toshiba Computer is considered as the first computer that can work with the benefits of Windows 7 in the computers list that provide screens system. Moreover, it is noted that Toshiba Corporation has been able to benefit from the uncertainty that experienced by some customers when Apple Company introduced the ipad that does not contain a regular keyboard. Toshiba Company, when it provided this form of new laptop, sold all sets that have been put in markets. They are now in the process of renewing and modernizing this new form of computers and we are waiting for the one who may lead the new laptop market.
